Teatro Español del Siglo de Oro (TESO) [1]

This database is made up of over 800 plays comprising 68 volumes written by the sixteen most prolific dramatists of the Spanish Golden Age (XVI and XVII centuries). These dramatists include Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca and Tirso de Molina.

 

Teatro Español del Siglo de Oro was published with the involvement and help of the Editorial Board, who have taken great care over selecting the appropriate editions -- choosing the oldest and avoiding facsimiles wherever possible, The Editorial Board has always chosen the first editions, except where the original copy is illegible and is in too poor a condition to be of any use.

 

The text is copied exactly as it is written, with all peculiarities captured -- accents, abbreviations, etc. Given the importance of many of the authors who wrote the volume front matter ("Preliminaries"), we have also reproduced the latter, so that in addition to the play text itself, we have captured the "aprobaciones," censuras," privilegios," etc., to each volume.
